Once a birth date and time go in, the screen fills fast. Stems and branches, great luck, ten gods, useful-god candidates. Fill speed and product scope are different. A myeongri product with no scope set pretends to be a calculator, then slides into a sentence factory.
This is not a stand-in for a saju reading. It writes, as process, what we put in a calculation result when we build a myeongri tool, and what we leave as the reader’s seat.
We split three layers first
If three layers mix on one screen, the user remembers the layer closest to a story as the product.
- The chart — stems and branches of year, month, day, hour; solar-term basis; time correction
- Relations — ten gods, combinations and clashes, the mechanical layout of great luck and yearly luck
- Reading — the layer that becomes sentences: work, people, advice for the year
1 and 2 are rules. Same rule version and same solar-term table, same input, same chart. 3 is a person. The more we fill 3 with automatic sentences, the less the product can explain the rules, and the more it sells a story.
Where the calculation closes
A chart calculation takes the quality of the input first. No birth time. Calendar conversion. Daylight saving and offset. The rat-hour boundary. Hide those inputs and show a chart, and the chart looks tidy but does not repeat.
- No time — leave the hour pillar empty, or mark that it is empty
- Solar-term edge — leave the table and the clock used on the result
- Conversion rule — lock lunar and leap-month handling to a version
Honesty in a calculation product is not a pretty natal chart. It is the same chart coming back when the same input goes in again.
If the scope is not written down, the next feature request is always a reading sentence. Sentences have no end. A chart has an end. We keep the side that has an end as the product’s bone.
What we do not put in
We write the items we leave outside product scope in advance.
- A one-line fortune that declares a given date lucky or unlucky
- A sentence that replaces a medical, money, or legal decision with saju
- Filling a missing time with “around here is usual”
- Locking the useful god to one character — the useful god is a reading hypothesis
We cut them not as a moral statement. Put those sentences in and the inspection standard disappears. A chart can be checked against. A one-line fortune cannot.
Order on the screen
The order we show the user stays the order of the calculation. Chart → relations → (if any) a short term note. Put an advice sentence at the top and the chart below becomes decoration.
A term note is not a reading. “What is piancai” is close to a glossary. “So change jobs this year” is counsel. Putting a glossary in a product and putting counsel in a product are different shipments.
Inspection
Before we add a new rule we run three inputs again. A case with a time, a case without, a solar-term day. If the three results differ from the documented rule, the feature does not ship. A myeongri product ships on a repeatable chart, not on the taste of a sentence.
Hold the scope and the reader’s seat remains. The tool closes the chart. A person reads that chart. That split is what keeps a myeongri product from being a fortune machine.
